County Clare (Contae An Chláir) (pop. 127,000) is an interesting county with a broad range of historic locations, cultural centres and varied  scenery between the River Shannon estuary to the south, Lough Derg to the east and the Atlantic coastline to the west and northwest. The most famous places are undoubltedly the spectacular Cliffs of Moher and the lunar landscape of The Burren, but Ennis, Ennistymon, Lisdoonvarna, the Loop Head Peninsula and the myriad lakes in the central and eastern parts of the county are also well worth visiting. (More…)
