The Glasshouse****, Sligo’s most avant garde building, stands adjacent to Hyde Bridge spanning the Garravogue River, on the site of pre-1558 complex of mills which once belonged to the Yeats brothers’ grandfather, William Pollexfen. It has an award-winning restaurant.

The Clarion Hotel****, opened in 2005, has kept only the façade of St Columba’s Lunatic Asylum (1855-1992). The original church and chapel in the grounds have also been renovated for banquets and wedding ceremonies etc.
