Donore, a village situated in the River Boyne Valley on the border of counties Meath/Louth , underwent considerable expansion in recent years due to its location near the newly upgraded M1 Motorway.

King James II spent the night in Donore before his defeat by King William III at the fateful Battle of the Boyne in 1690.
